“We joined a Philip Island tour, the guide Lewis is excellent, he is very entertaining, he is so caring of the people in his tour, it wasn’t a day with good weather, but we all enjoyed, we saw the lively sea which we wouldn’t see on a sunny day.” – Cello B – Hong Kong

Perfect option for an evening tour

We chose this evening express tour to the Penguins so we could maximise our shopping time in Melbourne lol... my daughter really wanted to see the Penguins and it was a delightful experience.

Great way to see the penguins if your short on time

We only had a very short time in Melbourne, so this was the perfect option for us.
very smooth operator.

Itinerary

  • Why The Direct Tour?

Join this Phillip Island Penguins Tour and visit Phillip Island to meet the world famous little penguins!

The Phillip Island Penguins Direct Tour is the perfect way to see the highlights of Phillip Island whilst allowing enough time for you to explore the city in the morning. We’ll leave Melbourne later in the day, so you still have plenty of time exploring the city’s cafes, shops, and laneways.

The tour includes all park entry fees, wildlife viewing, and a friendly and informative tour guide. As well as return pick up and drop off from Melbourne CBD.

  • Phillip Island Penguins Direct Tour | The Nobbies National Park

As you enter Summerlands you will notice the absence of any housing, this is the part of the island which is all National Park, however you will see the small wooden man-made burrows in which penguins who have not gone out fishing for the day are hiding. We will take a walk out around the board walks of ‘The Nobbies’ and have a look to see if we can spot any Little Penguins in their burrows, follow the walkways around to view ‘The Blowhole’ where waves come crashing up onto the dark volcanic rock, the caves and formations at this naturally craggy peninsula make for many dramatic photos, with the backdrop of Seal Rocks – on a sunny day you might be lucky enough to see Australian Fur Seals basking in the sun.

If you do not fancy braving the boardwalks then step inside the Nobbies Information Centre where you can peruse the gift shop, and money spent here will go directly back into helping protect and preserve Penguin habitats.

  • Phillip Island Penguins Direct Tour | The Penguin Parade

As the sun begins to set it is time to make your way to the Penguin Parade, the Little Penguins only come out of the water after the sun has gone down so that they can be sure to stay out of the way of any predators in the air above them.

The Penguin Parade ask that no photography is taken from this point on, this is to protect the sensitive eyes of the Little Penguins and ensure they are not scared, Wildlife Tours fully supports this request and we believe you will enjoy getting to witness such an amazing natural spectacle without the distraction of getting the ‘perfect photo’ – allow yourself to be fully immersed in the experience!

Take your seat and prepare to see the initial shapes of penguins cautiously emerging from the water, until large rafts of penguins gather and are soon making their way back to their burrows through well walked tracks that they use night after night. You will be viewing from boardwalks right in amongst the action! This time of night is when the Penguin Colony comes alive with the noises of them socialising and calling out to each other, pick a penguin and follow their path back to their burrow, you will soon see their individual personality’s coming out!

Once you have had time to marvel at this incredible spectacle it is back on to the bus, for the easy 1hr 45min ride back to Melbourne, with memories of a truly magical day to remember.
